DHAKA: The US Embassy in Dhaka has announced the implementation of a new scheduling mechanism designed to increase the number of visa interviews that can be accommodated. The changes, which began on December 15, will be fully operational by January 2, 2025, according to a press release from Bangladesh’s foreign ministry.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the US Embassy in Dhaka has outlined several important changes under the new system. One key alteration is that an applicant’s non-immigrant visa interview will be canceled if they do not possess a valid DS-160 confirmation (barcode) number that the Embassy can access in its system on the day of the interview. The DS-160 number must also match the individual’s manifest. Applicants who fail to comply with this requirement will be required to reschedule their interviews, potentially facing a waiting period of several months to secure a new appointment.

Additionally, the valid DS-160 confirmation (barcode) number must be accurately reflected in the applicant’s online profile. Any modifications made to the online profile or DS-160 within seven calendar days before the scheduled visa interview will result in the cancellation of the appointment. This new mechanism aims to streamline the interview process and reduce administrative hurdles for both applicants and the Embassy.
