US Business Group Eager to Boost Investments in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Top US businessman Gentry Beach today met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to discuss potential investment opportunities in Bangladesh. Beach, who is the CEO and founder of Highground Holdings, expressed a strong interest in expanding his company’s investments in the country’s energy, finance, and other sectors.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Highground Holdings has already acquired multiple assets in Bangladesh. During his meeting with Prof Yunus, Beach praised the country’s improved law and order situation and the return of stability, deeming it an opportune time for increased investment. Beach, who also serves as the chairman of Paramount USA, highlighted the company’s interest in investing in real estate, particularly low-cost social housing, as well as in the aerospace and defense industries.



Prof Yunus welcomed Beach’s investment plans, acknowledging the importance of foreign direct investment during this critical period in Bangladesh. He emphasized that the interim government is actively implementing reforms to attract more foreign capital. Prof Yunus assured that the country is prepared for business, noting that conditions are now favorable as Bangladesh embarks on a new chapter in its history.



The discussion also touched on the need for further US investments in various sectors, including gas exploration in both onshore and offshore fields. Beach conveyed his confidence that increased American investment would lead to higher labor wages in Bangladesh, expressing his commitment to contributing to the country’s growth.



The meeting was also attended by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority chairman Ashik Chowdhury and senior secretary to SDG affairs Lamiya Morshed.
