Dhaka: The United States has announced a $235,000 grant to support the restoration of the Mughal-era Musa Khan Mosque located at Dhaka University. U.S. Ambassador Brent T. Christensen made the announcement during a programme held at the university, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka revealed that the grant is part of the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP). This initiative highlights the ongoing collaboration between the United States and Bangladesh. Over the past 25 years, the United States has contributed more than $1 million to 13 cultural preservation projects across Bangladesh, showcasing the enduring partnership between the two nations.

The restoration project, in collaboration with Bangladesh’s Department of Archaeology, will focus on reviving the mosque’s Islamic architectural features. Additionally, the project aims to create a permanent digital archive and provide training for young architects, ensuring the preservation of Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.
