Dhaka: A group of injured victims of the July uprising today organized a human chain in front of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), demanding proper treatment.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims alleged that many of them require treatment abroad, but steps have not been taken to facilitate this. Despite being issued health cards, the injured claim that hospitals are not providing the necessary medical care when they present these cards, prompting them to form the human chain in protest.

Injured victim Md. Tanvir Hossain expressed concerns over the lack of adequate treatment, stating that they are not receiving proper medical care or medicine. He disclosed that they have to purchase medicine with their own money.

Md. Rafi Hossain, a madrasa student and another injured victim, recounted his ordeal, explaining that he was struck by a splinter from a bullet fired by law enforcers in the Shyamoli area on July 18. Further, he was hit by bullets in his hands during a movement in Mohammadpur on August 5. Since then, he has been receiving treatment at NITOR and is enduring severe pain.

Rafi mentioned that unless their demands for proper treatment are met, they plan to continue with various programs from next Saturday.
