Jigatala: Police recovered the hanging body of a university student from a house in the capital's Jigatala area on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Rafsad Mostafa Ruhin, 22, a second-year student of Daffodil International University and son of Jamal Uddin Ripon of Sipahipara in Munshiganj.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rafsad's maternal cousin Imtiaz Kamal stated that he had spoken to Rafsad over the phone around 12:05am on Wednesday. Rafsad mentioned that he had just finished working out at a gym and was headed to a salon for a haircut, after which he planned to go to the airport. However, he could not make it to the airport due to time constraints.

Kamal revealed that Rafsad had been in a relationship with a young woman for about a year, and the family suspects that a misunderstanding in the relationship might have led him to die by suicide. Family members believe Rafsad hanged himself from a ceiling fan with a plastic rope in a small room beside the dining area of the flat on the fourth floor, sometime between 1:00am and 3:00am.

The family became concerned when Rafsad did not respond to their calls in the morning. Subsequently, they informed the police, who then broke open the door and recovered the body. Sub-Inspector Md Shamim Mia from Hazaribagh Police Station reported that the police retrieved the body around noon after being alerted through the national emergency service 999. The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy after completing necessary legal procedures.
