Dhaka: An unidentified young man died after being found unconscious with apparent injuries in the city's Bangshal area early Sunday. The youth, aged around 25, was discovered near the Kasaituli Jumman Community Centre intersection and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 12:00 am, where doctors declared him dead.
According to United News of Bangladesh, a passerby named Tanvir Hossain reported seeing the youth lying unconscious with apparent injuries at the intersection while travelling by rickshaw. With the help of local residents, he transported the youth to the hospital. Hossain stated that both legs of the youth seemed to be broken, and there was a noticeable injury mark on the right side of his head.
Local residents described the youth as wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and dark red or maroon trousers. Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed that the body was kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing, and the incident has been reported to the relevant police station.
The exact cause of death has yet to be determined. It remains unclear whether the youth was the victim of a crime, died in an accident, or died by suicide.
