Chattogram: A mobile court of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department has sealed a water packaging factory named Sata Packaged Drinking Water and imposed a fine of Tk 2 lakh for producing and selling water without approval from the authority in the Maijpara area of Khwaja Road under Chandgaon Thana.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was led by Mohammad Faiz Ullah and also resulted in fines for three other commercial establishments totaling Tk 15,000. The Consumer Affairs Department sources disclosed that the Sata Packaged Drinking Water factory had been operating without BSTI approval for an extended period.
Moreover, the factory was discovered to be producing fake ‘staring power oil’ under the guise of the company. As a result, the factory was fined Tk two lakh and temporarily sealed due to these violations.
During the enforcement operation, fines of Tk five thousand each were levied on Zainab Medical Hall and Janani Medicine Hall for selling expired medicines. Additionally, Al Hasan business establishment faced a fine of Tk five thousand for selling expired sweets in the same area.
Faiz Ullah emphasized that such enforcement drives will continue to protect consumer interests. Assistant Director Md. Anisur Rahman, Assistant Director Mahmuda Akhter, and a team of CMP Police were present during the drive.
