Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain today said no unauthorized and substandard clinics will be allowed to operate in the country as part of efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services. ‘A ‘zero tolerance’ policy will be followed against clinic owners involved in irregularities,’ he told journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with officials and employees of the ministry at the Secretariat in Dhaka today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given strict directives to ensure quality healthcare services. The minister emphasized that a ‘zero tolerance’ policy will be enforced against clinic owners involved in irregularities. He warned that any clinic failing to maintain minimum healthcare standards would be shut down immediately without delay. The monitoring drive, which has started in the capital, will be expanded across the country in phases.
Expressing satisfaction over the overall Eid situation, Sakhawat Hossain noted that this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in a more peaceful and comfortable environment compared to the past one and a half decades.
