Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) has elicited recommendations from the delegates of national general convention (council members) on the measures to be adopted for internal reforms and consolidation to transform the party to a decisive national force. In the first meeting of the National Convention Representatives Council held at Sunrise Hall in Godawari of Latilpur, chairperson KP Sharma Oli's political and general secretary Shankar Pokharel's organizational report have raised the issue of democratizing the party's life as well as making UML a decisive national force through upcoming elections to reach socialism by fulfilling the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'. The UML has laid policy priorities to make the incumbent government sustainable, result-oriented and successful, enhance economic dynamics, dispense justice to cooperatives' victims, maintain good governance through effective public services and remove complexities in the implementation of federalism. It may be noted that UML has s et 13 policy priorities, including taking action against those involved in corruption and unscrupulous activities, ensuring accountability in the country, industrialization of agriculture and domestic production as well as transport, communication and infrastructure development, increasing electricity generation and consumption. Likewise, UML has laid emphasis on expanding technical education and maintaining gender equality, fulfilling the remaining tasks of the peace process and strengthening foreign relations on the basis of national independence. The UML leadership has sought substantive and strategic suggestions from the members of the General Convention Representative Council on these issues through group discussions. UML has hosted a special programme on the occasion of the 75th years of the establishment of the party on Monday. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Prime Ministers and top leaders of the parties are scheduled to attend the special ceremony, it is shared.
