Dhaka: The British High Commission in Dhaka today hosted a special reception to honor the Bangladesh Women's National Cricket Team ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales next month. Hosted by British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, the event celebrated the team's achievements and extended well-wishes as they prepare to represent Bangladesh on the global stage.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sarah Cooke emphasized the significance of cricket in both the United Kingdom and Bangladesh, highlighting its role in strengthening the connection between the two nations. "We are delighted to welcome the Bangladesh Women's Cricket Team to the UK in the coming month and look forward to supporting them as they compete at the highest level," she stated.
The reception underscored the growing sporting relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom, reaffirming a mutual commitment to promoting women's empowerment through sports. The event attracted members of parliament, senior government officials, representatives from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, politicians, sports figures, and media personnel.
