Pallabi: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived at the residence of the family of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter, who was recently killed in the city's Pallabi area. He reached the family's Pallabi residence around 9:50 pm to offer condolences over the tragic death of Ramisa.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the visit comes in the wake of a heinous incident that has shocked the community. Ramisa, a second-grade student, was killed on Tuesday by a tenant living in a neighbouring flat. The accused, Sohel Rana, allegedly called Ramisa into his room after she left her home in the morning. Her dismembered body was later discovered beneath a bed, with her head found inside a bucket in the bathroom of Sohel's flat.
Police reported that locals managed to detain Sohel Rana's wife, Swapna Akter, but Sohel himself escaped by cutting through a window grill. He was eventually apprehended in the Fatullah area of Narayanganj on Tuesday evening. The accused has since provided a confessional statement before a Dhaka court on Wednesday.
Earlier, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed assured the public that exemplary punishment would be ensured swiftly in response to the incident. The Prime Minister's visit underscores the government's commitment to addressing this tragic event and supporting the bereaved family.
