Dhaka: The Bangladesh U-20 women’s football team returned home early Tuesday morning at 1:30 am after successfully completing their AFC Women’s U-20 Asian Cup qualifying campaign in Laos.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh secured their first-ever spot in the AFC Women’s U-20 Asian Cup by winning two of their three matches. They qualified as one of the three best runners-up across eight groups involving 32 teams, joining hosts Thailand in the 12-team final tournament set to be held next year.

Bangladesh began their Group H campaign with wins over hosts Laos (3-1) and Timor-Leste (8-0), but faced a 6-1 defeat to two-time champions and group winners South Korea in their final match.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s senior women’s football team also achieved a milestone by booking their place at the 2026 Asian Cup in Australia.
