Two Suspected Robbers Killed in Shariatpur Mob Beating

Shariatpur: Two suspected robbers were killed and five others injured in a mass beating in Shariatpur on Friday night. Besides, eight individuals were injured in the indiscriminate shooting by robbers when the local residents chased them.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the injured robbers and civilians were taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, while two critically injured victims have been transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Superintendent of Shariatpur Police Md Nazrul Islam. The robbers were lynched by locals in the Tetulia area of Domsar union under Sadar upazila around 9 pm, Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Md. Nazrul Islam said.

Police reported that a group of individuals entered Rajarhat of Madaripur’s Kalkini upazila at night with the intention of committing robbery. Upon being chased by the locals, the robbers opened fire indiscriminately, leaving eight people injured. Subsequently, the residents of the area surrounded them and attacked them. Two died on the spot and fi
ve others were injured.

The robbers attempted to use the Krittinasha River in Shariatpur to escape. As they were crossing the Angaria Bridge, they were lynched by the locals in the Tetulia area of Domsar union in Sadar upazila.
