Two school students drowned in Teesta

RANGPUR, Two school students died after drowning in the river Teesta in Mohipur Ghat area under Gangachara upazila in the district today, police said.

The victims were identified as Anwarul Sayeed, 14, of Dhap Medical area and Suman Ahmmed, 14, of Islambag R K Road area in Rangpur city.

Both of the victims were students of class eight at Brighton School and College in Dhap area in the city.

Both the students were missing since they started taking bath in the river along with other students of their educational institution this noon.

The other students and local villagers recovered them from the river after half an hour of missing.

Both of them were immediately rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared them dead.

Talking to BSS tonight, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gangachara Thana Inspector Zinnat Ali confirmed the incident and death of the two school students.

"The bodies were handed over to their relatives and no complain was lodged in this connection," the OC added.
