Netrakona: Two persons were electrocuted to death and another person was critically injured at Bakarikanda village under Kalmakanda upazila here this morning. The deceased are Rafiqul Islam, 55, a retired army personnel and son of Sardar Fakir, and Sumon Mia, 32, son of Faju Mia. Both were residents of the aforementioned village. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-charge of Kalmakanda police station, Firoj Hussain, reported that Rafiqul Islam came in contact with a live electric wire while attempting to operate an irrigation machine in the courtyard of his house around 11am. Upon hearing his screams, his two relatives, Sumon and Jayedul, rushed to the spot to assist him, but they also came into contact with the live electric wire. Local residents promptly rescued them and transported them to Netrakona Sadar Hospital, where attending doctors declared Rafiqul and Sumon dead. Jayedul is currently undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a critical state.
