Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 395 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours. The alarming rise in cases has raised concerns among health authorities and the public.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement detailed the distribution of new cases across various divisions: 58 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 61 in Chattogram division, 69 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 50 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 35 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 56 in Khulna division, six in Mymensingh division, 48 in Rajshahi division, nine in Rangpur division and four in Sylhet division.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts this year, Bangladesh has witnessed a total of 86 deaths, with the disease infecting 22,065 individuals. The DGHS report also noted that 493 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery.
The dengue outbreak last year claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people in the country. The current statistics indicate a concerning trend as health officials continue to battle the spread of the disease.
