Two Killed in Road Accident on Thakurgaon-Panchagarh Highway

Thakurgaon: A man and his daughter lost their lives in a road accident on the Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway in the Bhulli area of the district this morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased have been identified as Ashraful Islam, 52, a CNG-run three-wheeler driver, and his daughter, Rubaiya Khatun, 15, who was a ninth-grade student at Boda Pilot Girls High School. The unfortunate incident occurred when they were on their way to Boda, where Ashraful was dropping his daughter at school.



Local sources and police reported that a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of VIP Automobiles, identified by the registration number Dhaka Metro-B 14-8152, collided with their three-wheeler from behind near the Khoshbazar Madrasa area. The impact resulted in Ashraful’s immediate death on the spot, while Rubaiya sustained critical injuries. She was rushed to Thakurgaon General Hospital, where the medical team declared her dead.



Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhulli Police Station, Saiful Islam, confirmed that police arrived at the accident scene promptly after receiving the report. He stated that the bus involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver and helper managed to escape. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend them, and Boda Highway Police is expected to take legal action regarding the incident.
