Scouting Shapes Youth into Honest, Patriotic Citizens

Rangpur: Speakers at a colorful Cub Carnival emphasized the importance of Scouting in shaping young students into honest, capable, and patriotic citizens. The event, titled “Cub Carnival 2025,” was organized by the Rangpur Sadar Upazila Unit of Bangladesh Scouts and held at the Upazila Parishad ground in Rangpur. It was part of a nationwide program aimed at primary level students.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rangpur Divisional Director (Local Government) Md Abu Zafar inaugurated the program as the chief guest by hoisting the national and Cub flags and participating in prayer songs. Additional Deputy Commissioner Parimal Kumar Sarkar attended as a special guest, while Rangpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Upazila Scouts President Md Saiful Islam presided over the event.



The event featured speeches from various officials, including Dinajpur Regional Scouts Secretary Md Abu Said, Assistant Director Shudhir Chandra Barman, Rangpur Sadar Upazila Scout Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman, Secretary Rafiqul Haque, and Leader Trainer Siddiqur Rahman. They highlighted that the Cub Carnival is a special pack meeting in Cub Scouting, designed to be fun, exciting, educational, and competitive.



The speakers pointed out that Scouting significantly contributes to the physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and mental development of young boys and girls, preparing them to become responsible members of both national and international communities. The chief guest underscored the vital role of Cub Scout activities in teaching young students to adapt to challenging environments, stating, “Scouting is essential to develop children as good citizens.”



A total of thirty Cub teams from 30 primary schools in Sadar Upazila participated in the day-long event. Each team consisted of six Cub Scouts and one unit leader. Following the cultural segment of the Cub Carnival, UNO Md Saiful Islam distributed certificates to all participants.
