Jamalpur: Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Sharifpur in Sadar upazila here this morning. One of the deceased was Abul Kashem, 40, an auto-rickshaw driver.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh highway around 8.30 am when a Jamalpur-bound bus collided with an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The impact left four individuals injured, as confirmed by Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, Abu Faysal Md Atik.
The injured were initially taken to Jamalpur General Hospital, where a doctor on-duty declared one of the victims dead. Subsequently, two critically injured persons were transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Tragically, the auto-rickshaw driver, Abul Kashem, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
