DHAKA: Police today arrested Jubo League and Chatra League leaders from the city's Tanti Bazar and Rupnagar areas on charges of carrying out attacks on the protestors during the anti-discrimination student movement. The arrested were identified as Tapu Nandi, president of Chhatra League of Ward-36 unit, and Julia Akhter, general secretary of Jubo League of Ward-7. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nandi was arrested from the Tantibazar area under Kotwali Police Station around 12:30am while Julia was rounded up from the Rupnagar area. They were accused in separate cases relating to the attacks on the protesters during the student-led uprising.
