Khulna: Police arrested two people along with a foreign-made pistol, 10 rounds of bullets, two magazines, and cash amounting to Taka 1.74 lakh in Khulna city yesterday night. The arrests were made around 7 pm from the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) area under Sonadanga Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge of Sonadanga Model Police Station Rafiqul Islam stated that a team of the police, along with members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch, conducted a raid at a house on Madrasa Road opposite Khulna Medical College Hospital in the evening. During the drive, the law enforcers recovered one foreign-made pistol, 10 rounds of bullets, two magazines, and cash amounting to Taka 1,74,400 from a rented room of a three-storey building owned by Begum Rabeya.
In this connection, the tenants Mohammad Morshed Ali, 45, and Kazi Kabir Ahmed, 50, were arrested. Preparation is underway to file a case against the arrestees, the OC added. Earlier in the morning, about 10 hours before the raid, police and members of the Department of Narcotics Control arrested a woman named Suraiya Parvin Sumi along with five firearms and 96 rounds of bullets during a search of passenger vehicles in the city.
