Rangpur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 conducted two separate operations resulting in the seizure of significant amounts of illegal drugs and the arrest of five suspected drug dealers from various locations in Rangpur district over the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seized contraband included 10.3 kilograms of ganja and 125 bottles of phensedyl-like Fairdyl syrup. The operations were part of a strategic effort to curb drug trafficking in the region.
In one operation, acting on a tip-off, a RAB-13 team conducted a raid in the Islampur Boiragai Bazar area under Mithapukur police station on Saturday at 4 pm. During this raid, law enforcement officials seized 10.3 kilograms of ganja and arrested three individuals. The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Delwar Hossain, 28, and Md Momin Mia, 29, both from village Rudreswar under Kaliganj police station, and Md Ziarul Islam, 40, from village Doi Khawa under Hatibandha police station in Lalmonirhat district.
In a separate operation on the same day at 11.50 am, RAB-13 seized 125 bottles of Fairdyl syrup and detained two individuals in the Park Mour area under Tajhat metropolitan police station in Rangpur city. The individuals arrested in this raid are Mst Papia Begum, 32, from village Talpara Bhimpur under Panchbibi police station of Joypurhat, and Mst Mariam, 30, from village Banglahili under Hakimpur police station of District-Dinajpur.
Following these operations, RAB-13 filed two separate cases and handed over the arrested individuals and the seized drugs to the concerned police stations for further legal proceedings.
