Gaibandha: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested two suspected drug peddlers along with 595 pieces of Yaba tablets and Taka 72,000 in cash from the Gobindaganj police station area in Gaibandha district on Monday. A press release signed by RAB-13’s Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami confirmed the information today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the detainees are Md Maharaj Mir, 45, of village Arua Sonagaon under Rajapur police station of Jhalokati district, and Md Shahadat Hossain, 36, of village Masimpur under Kotwali police station of Dinajpur district. On a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13’s Gaibandha Camp and Dinajpur Camp conducted a raid on a Dhaka-bound coach on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway, searched the bodies of the two men, seized drugs along with Taka 72,000 in cash, and arrested them from the spot.
After filing a case in this incident, the elite force handed over the seized drugs and the arrested persons to Gobindaganj police station of Gaibandha district, the release added.
