Jhenaidah: Around 5,000 farmers in the district have received free fertilizer and seeds under a government incentive program aimed at boosting agricultural production during the Kharif season. Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdullah Al Masud inaugurated the distribution program at 12:30 pm today on the premises of Sadar Upazila Parishad. The initiative was organized by the Upazila Agriculture Department.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Nur A Nabi stated that the program aims to increase the cultivation and production of Aush (Ufshi) paddy, moong dal, and sesame during the Kharif season. Under the initiative, 3,500 farmers each received 5 kg of Aush paddy seeds along with 10 kg of MOP and 10 kg of DOP fertilizer. Additionally, 800 registered farmers were provided with 5 kg of moong dal seeds, 10 kg of DOP, and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer per person.
Furthermore, 600 farmers received 1 kg of sesame seeds along with 10 kg of DOP and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer each. Officials highlighted that the support is targeted at marginal farmers to encourage Aush cultivation, as well as to enhance the production of moong dal and sesame, ultimately contributing to increased agricultural output and farmer motivation in the region.
