Teknaf: Bangladesh Navy teams have arrested two drug dealers along with yaba during separate drives in the Teknaf area of Cox’s Bazar district, according to an ISPR press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operations resulted in the recovery of 72,000 pieces of yaba and 11,000 kyat, the currency of Myanmar. Acting on a tip-off, a Bangladesh Navy team raided the Noyapara area under Sabrang Union of Teknaf and apprehended Nur Mohammad and Hamid Hossain for their involvement in drug trafficking activities.
Following information provided by the arrestees, the team discovered 42,000 pieces of yaba concealed in a box buried underground. Additionally, a mobile phone was seized during the operation.
In a separate operation, another 30,000 pieces of yaba were found on an engine-powered boat anchored in the Shah Parir Dwip area. The raid also led to the recovery of 11,000 kyat and another mobile phone from the boat.
The seized yaba, mobile phones, and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal proceedings, the release indicated.
