Dhaka:A court has placed two banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders, Falguni Das Tonni and Sajedul alias Sajedur Rahman Sohan, on a two-day remand each in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam issued the remand order after the police produced the two leaders in court, seeking a seven-day remand for each.

Tonni, a central committee leader, was arrested on October 22 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Sohan, the joint general secretary of BCL's Tungipara upazila unit, was apprehended on October 24 in the Mirpur area.

The case documents reveal that on September 11, between 80 to 100 leaders and activists of the banned BCL and the activities-banned Bangladesh Awami League gathered on Road-3 in the Gulshan-1 area, where they reportedly detonated crude bombs and held a procession. The police subsequently filed the case with the Gulshan Police Station.
