Darshana: Two bakery shops in the Darshana area of Chuadanga district have been fined a total of Taka 70,000 for using unauthorized colors and industrial salt in their food products. The fines were imposed during a monitoring drive conducted from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm today in the bustling Darshana Bazar area. The operation was led by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, the assistant director of the Chuadanga district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive officials conducted inspections at various establishments in Darshana to ensure the quality of essential commodities and food items. During this operation, it was discovered that the owner of Messrs Rimi Food, Jamal Mia, was operating without valid trade and licenses and was using harmful unauthorized food colors and industrial salt in preparing food items. As a result, he was fined Taka 10,000.
Similarly, Muslim Fast Food and Bakery faced a penalty of Taka 60,000 for comparable violations. The fines were imposed and immediately collected on-site to ensure compliance.
The authorities further instructed the businesses to update their sanitary licenses and other necessary documents promptly. They were also urged to maintain hygienic conditions within their establishments to prevent future infractions.
The drive was supported by Damurhuda Upazila Sanitary Inspector Niamat Ali, CAB representative Rafiqul Islam, and a team of police, ensuring the effective execution of the operation.
