Two Arrested with 44 Kg of Hemp in Chattogram

Chattogram: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended two individuals in possession of 44 kg of hemp from the Munsef Bazar Kalibari area under Patiya upazila, Chattogram district, late last night.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Roni, the son of Md. Jamal from the Raghupur area under Sadar Dakshin Police Station in Cumilla district, and Md. Kamal, the son of Fatik Mia from the Natapara area under Chauddagram Police Station.



RAB-7’s Senior Assistant Director (Media), ARM Mozaffar Hossain, reported that the Rapid Action Battalion had received intelligence indicating that cannabis was being transported from Cumilla to Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday night. Acting on this information, RAB established a checkpoint at Munsef Bazar Kalibari in Patiya municipality around 11:30 pm and conducted a search on a pickup truck.



During the search operation, 44 kg of hemp was discovered concealed among raw vegetables. Following the discovery, the two detainees were transferred to the custody of Patiya Police Station.
