Dhaka: The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has announced a revision in the question structure and mark distribution for three subjects in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations. These changes aim to streamline and update the examination process for Bangla, ICT, and Finance and Banking.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the revisions include significant changes to the Bangla Second Paper, where the translation component of the essay section has been eliminated. This change reallocates the 10 marks previously assigned to translation towards the task of writing a news report.
In the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subject, short-answer questions have been removed entirely. Instead, an additional 10 marks have been added to the multiple-choice section, increasing its total to 25 marks. This adjustment is intended to focus more on objective assessment.
For the Finance and Banking subject, the revised structure will include a total of 15 short-answer questions, with a division of eight questions from the finance section and seven from the banking section. Students are required to answer a total of 10 questions, ensuring that they respond to at least four questions from either section, allowing for some flexibility in their choices.
These changes reflect the NCTB’s ongoing efforts to enhance the educational assessment framework and ensure that it meets contemporary educational standards and requirements.
