Two Alleged Arms Traders Arrested with Firearms and Ammunition in Lakshmipur

Laskshmipur: Joint forces arrested two alleged arms traders along with a cache of weapons and ammunition during a special operation in Chandraganj area of Sadar upazila here last night. The arrestees were identified as Md Imran Hossain, 25, son of Kajal Islam Suman of Deopara village under Sadar upazila and Md Sajib, 27, son of Anwar Hossain of Aleyapur union of the upazila.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the army confirmed the matter, stating that the joint force team conducted a raid in Aleyapur, a locality bordering Chandraganj and Noakhali. The operation was led by Army Captain Arman Habib Apu and Lieutenant Abid Karim Shahriar, with participation from army, RAB and police patrol teams.



During the search, joint forces recovered one foreign-made pistol, four LGs, 37 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, four empty cartridges, 53 fireworks, two cocktails, one locally made weapon and a BP from the suspects, Captain Arman Habib Apu said.



According to the army, Imran Hossain is a listed criminal and a wanted accused in several cases, including murder and arms-related offences. Following the operation, the arrested individuals along with the recovered weapons and ammunition were handed over to Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station for further legal proceedings.
