Khulna: A truck driver was killed in a road accident at Jhilerdanga Nijhumpur area under Dumuria upazila of the district this morning. The deceased was identified as Azharul, 18, son of Alamgir, a resident of Badurgachha Musolmanpara area under Dumuria upazila of the same district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred around 9:30 am when a speedy passenger bus collided with a truck. The impact caused the truck to fall into a roadside ditch after the driver lost control of the vehicle, as explained by Md Fazlul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kharnia highway police.
The passenger bus was traveling to Dumuria from Khulna, while the brick-loaded truck was heading to the zero point area in Khulna from Dumuria, police personnel reported. Local residents quickly responded to the incident, extracting the injured truck driver from the vehicle and rushing him to Dumuria Health Complex. However, the attending doctor declared him dead upon arrival. The bus driver reportedly fled the scene following the collision.
