Chattogram: An elderly man was crushed under the wheels of a train at Bariyarhat area under Mirsarai upazila in Chattogram district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Manik, 61, hailed from Musa Mia Bari in Sonapahar area under Ward No: 8 of Zorarganj Union in Mirsarai upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chinki Astana Railway Station Master Sirajul Islam stated that Manik was crushed under the train while crossing the tracks around 8pm on Sunday night in the aforesaid area. SM Sahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Railway Sadar Thana, confirmed the incident, noting that the elderly man died while crossing the rail track last night.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for further procedures.
