Truck Accident in Cumilla Claims Seven Lives, Injures Six

Cumilla: Seven people were killed and six others injured after a rice-laden truck plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla early today. Daudkandi Highway Police Inspector Iqbal Bahar reported that the accident occurred when the truck, traveling to Chattogram from Dinajpur, skidded off the road and fell into the ditch around 3:00 am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, seven passengers died on the spot, while six others sustained injuries. A total of 13 people traveling on top of the truck were trapped underneath after the accident. The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Afzal Hossain, 35, Sohrab Hossain, 40, and Salek, 45, from Khalibpur village under Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur, and Sumon, 21, Abu Hossain, 30, Bishu Miah, 35, and Abdur Rashid, 55, from Bhaighar village under Birampur upazila in Dinajpur district.



Upon receiving information about the incident, Fire Service and police personnel rushed to the scene and conducted rescue operations. The injured were rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
