Rajshahi: The tree plantation program, discussion meeting, prize distribution, and cultural program were held at the initiative of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Rajshahi today. The tree plantation event aimed to foster children's love for trees and encourage afforestation with the cooperation of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was held this afternoon at the Shishu Academy auditorium, with RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton attending as the chief guest. During the event, winning students of various competitions were awarded prizes by the RCC Administrator, who later planted trees on the Shishu Academy premises.
In his speech, Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman emphasized that children are future assets of a country, and ensuring their healthy physical, mental, intellectual, and moral development is the responsibility of the family, society, and the state. He commended the Shishu Academy for working towards this goal and expressed gratitude for their arrangement of the event. He assured continued cooperation for the development of Rajshahi Shishu Academy, highlighting the city's part in the 25 crore tree plantation initiative announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, which includes a plan to plant two and a half lakh trees in Rajshahi metropolis.
The RCC Administrator expressed hope that more trees than the initially targeted number would be planted and urged everyone to plant at least one tree and take care of it. He also emphasized the importance of not throwing garbage in drains.
The program was presided over by District Children's Affairs Officer of Rajshahi Shishu Academy, Manjurul Qadir. Present at the event were eminent music guru Sri Manjushree Roy, member of Rajshahi Shishu Academy, and Member Secretary of Rajshahi Metropolitan JASAS, cultural personality Selim Reza. Students from various educational institutions, parents, teachers, officers, employees of Shishu Academy, and distinguished persons attended the event.
