Dhaka: A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman, his wife Salma Osman, son Imtinan Osman, and daughter Labiba Zoha, over graft allegations. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ACC in its plea stated that it is probing allegations against the former lawmaker and his family members for amassing illegal wealth, buying houses in Canada and the US, and running businesses in Dubai. These activities were reportedly funded through tender manipulation, extortion, taking commissions from transport owners, selling party posts, and embezzling government funds.

The ACC emphasized that the accused are attempting to flee the country to evade justice, and therefore a travel ban was necessary to ensure a proper investigation.
