Dhaka: A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Member of Parliament (MP) from Bogura-6 constituency Ragebul Ahsan Ripu and his wife Jobaida Ahsan Joba. Acting senior special judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Ibrahim Miah imposed the ban following a petition submitted by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Director (DD) Public Relations of the ACC Headquarters, Akhterul Islam, stated that the commission has been investigating allegations of corruption against the former lawmaker. The ACC expressed concerns that the former MP and his wife might attempt to leave the country to evade the ongoing investigation.
The decision to impose a travel ban aims to ensure that both Ragebul Ahsan Ripu and his wife remain available for questioning and do not escape the legal proceedings. The ACC emphasized the importance of barring them from leaving the country to facilitate a thorough and unhindered investigation into the allegations.
