Dhaka: A court here today imposed a travel ban on former lawmaker from Rajshahi-1 constituency Omor Faruk Chowdhury and his wife Nigar Sultana Chowdhury over graft allegations. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the anti-graft body in its plea stated that it is probing allegations involving drug trade, terrorism, extortion, embezzling government funds through corruption, and amassing illegal wealth against Omor Faruk Chowdhury and his wife Nigar Sultana Chowdhury. The plea emphasized the necessity of the travel ban to prevent the couple from fleeing the country during the ongoing investigation.
