Train kills railway employee in city

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2017 (BSS) - An employee of Bangladesh Railway was killed as a train hit him while rescuing a mother with her child from an accident at Kurul Biswa Road Rail Crossing this afternoon, police and hospital sources said.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Alauddin, camp in-charge of Airport Railway Police, told BSS that the incident took place at about 1 pm leaving Badal killed on the spot.

He said Kamlapur-bound passenger train "Surma Express" from Sylhet, ran over him while the mother and the baby remained unhurt.

Police recovered the bloodstained body of Badal and sent it to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

An unnatural death (UD) case was lodged with Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kamlapur in this connection, he added.
