Joypurhat: A man lost his life and five others sustained injuries in a road accident at Khanjanpur Mission area of Sadar upazila early this morning. The accident took place on the Joypurhat-Naogaon road when a tractor collided head-on with an auto rickshaw around 12:30 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased was identified as Idris Ali, 41, son of Ekram Ali, a resident of Adarshpara Mohalla in Sadar upazila. The collision resulted in the death of the auto rickshaw driver on the spot, while five passengers were injured.
The injured were promptly taken to Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital. Among those injured, Masud Hossain, Shamim Hossain, and his wife Minu Akhter were later transferred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura due to their critical condition.
The police have seized the truck involved in the accident, but the driver and his assistant managed to escape.
