Dhaka: The bodies of a couple and their two children have been found inside a home in Dhaka’s Wapda Bihari camp area, as investigators began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Masum, 35, his wife Fatema Akter Sumi, 30, and their two children, Minhaz, 4, and Asad, 2.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Farzina Nasrin, additional deputy police commissioner (Mirpur), stated that Masum, a rickshaw-puller, lived with his family at a tin-shed house at Wapda-3 building in the Pallabi-11 area. His wife worked as a domestic help in different households.

Local residents reported that the family had taken loans from various local associations and was under heavy debt. They noted that lenders frequently visited their house to demand repayment.

Farzina Nasrin mentioned, “It primarily appears that the couple killed their two children before committing suicide.” An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause behind the deaths of the four people, she added.
