Burimari: Export and import activities through Burimari Land Port will be suspended for eight days, from September 27 to October 4, due to the Sharadiya Durga Puja, the major religious festival observed by the Hindu community. Despite the halt in trade, passenger movement with valid passports will continue as usual, as confirmed by A.S.M. Niaz Nahid, General Secretary of Burimari Customs Clearing and Forwarding (C and F) Agents Association.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, trade operations will be suspended, although the customs office at the land port will remain operational. The Changrabandha Exporters Association in Cooch Behar, India, communicated the official notification of the trade suspension to the Burimari C and F Agents Association in honor of Durga Puja. Following this, the Burimari C and F Agents Association issued a letter confirming the trade halt from September 27 to October 4, distributing copies to all relevant departments at the land port.

Officials at the Burimari Land Customs Station and land port management have acknowledged receipt of the closure notice. Sub-Inspector (SI) Ashraful Islam of the Burimari Immigration Police assured that the immigration checkpoint and regular security patrols would remain active, facilitating normal movement for passengers with passports.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Burimari Land Customs Station, Delwar Hossain, stated that they received a letter from traders at India’s Changrabandha Land Customs Station, indicating the eight-day suspension of trade activities due to Durga Puja.
