Cox's Bazar:Tourists from across the country have flocked to popular destinations such as seaside, hill, and lake-surrounded spots during the five-day Sharadiya Durga Puja holiday, invigorating these areas with a festive atmosphere.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the influx of holidaymakers has revitalized tourist spots like the beaches of Cox's Bazar and Kuakata, the hills of Khagrachhari and Sajek, and the waters of Kaptai Lake in Rangamati. This has resulted in increased business for local hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, and transport services, contributing positively to the local economy.
The holiday period has seen tourists engaging in activities such as sea bathing, boat trips, and hiking along hilly paths, while also enjoying local cuisine. In Cox's Bazar, the main tourist destination, guests are enjoying the sea and sandy beaches, leading to high occupancy rates in accommodations, with advance bookings reaching up to 90 percent. The district administration has ensured safety measures for tourists with coordination among local authorities.
In Kuakata, tourists are experiencing the unique spectacle of both sunrise and sunset from the same beach. Similar enthusiasm is noted in Khagrachhari and Sajek Valley, where visitors are drawn to natural attractions and adventure activities. Additionally, Rangamati's Kaptai Lake and its surroundings have seen increased tourist activity, enhancing the area's vibrancy and benefiting local businesses.
The Durga Puja holiday has not only provided leisure and enjoyment to tourists but also brought optimism to the domestic tourism sector and local economies heavily reliant on tourism.
