London:Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaleeve Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow following the death of renowned journalist Toufique Imrose Khalidi, who was the Editor-in-Chief of bdnews24.com.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted Khalidi's pivotal role in pioneering online journalism in Bangladesh and his significant contributions to the development of the country's mass media and modern online journalism. The minister described Khalidi's death as an irreparable loss to the nation's media landscape.
Khalidi, aged 59, passed away at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was on a personal visit to the city when he suddenly became ill. After being admitted to the hospital on Thursday night, he was pronounced dead at 223 pm on Friday, as reported by bdnews24.com quoting family members. The minister also extended his prayers for the eternal peace of Khalidi's soul and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
