Pathu Thala – Tamil – 30th March

Pathu Thala follows the story of an undercover cop posing as an assassin working for a crime boss. What follows is a neo-noir action thriller film with twists in every scale imaginable. Pathu Thala is the remake of the 2017 Kannada film Mufti starring Sriimurali.

Pathu Thala stars Silambarasan, Gautham Karthik, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in lead roles. The film is directed by Obeli N. Krishna with music by A.R. Rahman. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 30th March 2023.

Idam Porul Eval – Tamil – 18th March

The last one on our list is from the Tamil industry titled Idam Porul Eval. The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi and Vishnu Vishal in lead roles. Not much is known about the movie other than that it is shot mostly in the hills of Madurai and Thandikodi in a remote tribal landscape. Recently movies like Pushpa have garnered accolades as they told a story from a similar raw and rural perspective.

Idam Porul Eval is directed by Seenu Ramasamy who collaborated with Vijay Sethupathi after 10 years. The music for the movie has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The theatrical release date for Idam Porul Eval is set for 18th March 2023.

Rudhran – Tamil – 27th March

A rowdy hero who takes a stance against the local gang and takes them out one by one. This is the basic premise of the Raghava Lawrence and Priya Bhavani Shankar starrer Rudhran. Tamil movies have always been known for their larger-than-life portrayal of the heroes and Rudhran will be no different. This movie is going to be no less than a fan service for the fans of Raghava.

Rudhran is directed by kathiresan who is also the executive producer of the film. The music of Rudhran has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The film will have a theatrical release on 27th March 2023.

Viduthalai – Tamil – 31st March

Viduthalai follows the story of DSP Kumaresan as he navigates through crime in his area. The period crime thriller is directed by Vetrimaran who also wrote the screenplay for this project. The film is based on the short story Thunaivan by B. Jeyamohan.

Vijay Sethupathi and Soori are the movie's main cast, with Gautam Vasudev Menon in supporting roles. It was almost a 3-year long project that took a halt in the middle due to Covid 19. The film will have a theatrical release on 31st March 2023.

CSI Sanatan – Telugu – 10th March

CSI Sanatan is another cop crime thriller out of the Telugu industry. While it might seem like another generic story of good vs bad, we’re rooting for some Telegu magic and interesting twists that set their movies apart.

CSI Sanatan stars Aadi Saikumar and Misha Narang in lead roles. The movie has been directed by Sivashankar Dev with a screenplay from Chaganti Santaiah. The film is also distributed under the banner of Chaganti productions. The movie is slated for its theatrical release on 10th March 2022.

Bedurulanka 2012 – Telugu – 22nd March

Bedurulanka 2012 is a drama comedy set in the fictional village of Bedurulanka. This light-hearted family drama is a move away from what pan-Indian audiences are used to seeing from the South.

The movie stars Kartikeya Gummakonda, Neha Shetty, and Ajay Ghosh in lead roles. The movie has been directed and written by Clax with Music by Mani Sharma. The film will have its theatrical release on 22nd March 2023.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu – Telugu – 30th March

Hari Hara Veera Mallu tells the story of the legendary South Indian outlaw Veera Mallu as he set out to steal the Koh-i-Noor from the Mughals. Set in the backdrop of the 17th century, the film tells an incredible story of grit and larger-than-life heroism.

The pan-Indian film has been directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. The film stars Pawan Kalyan, Niddhi Agerwal, Bobby Deol, and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles. The music director of the film is M. M. Keeravani who recently won the Golden Globes for the hit number Naatu Naatu in RRR.

The movie had quite a few reschedulings due to Covid-19 and Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments. However, it is set for a pan-Indian release on 30th March 2023.

Dasara – Telugu – 30th March

The first on the list is a Nani starrer Dasara. Nani is a cult classic hero in the Telugu industry who got his big pan-Indian breakthrough with his 2021 film, Shyam Singha Roy. Ever since then, there has been an increased interest in his filmography from all over India.

Dasara was announced in October 2021 with Nani and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. The principal photography of the movie started in March 2022. The story revolves around the Singareni Coal Mines where our hero fights against all odds to rise to the top. Dasara also marks the debut of director Srikanth Odela. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 30th March 2023.

Hoysala – Kannada – 30th March

A South Indian movie isn’t complete without some cop action and Hoysala brings you exactly that. It follows the story of a strict police officer who goes to Athani to investigate the homicide of a fellow police officer. As he strings on the clues, what he finds will shake up the entire system.

Hoysala stars Dhananjaya, Naveen Shankar and Rajesh Nataranga in lead roles. The film is directed by Vijay Naagendra who is also the writer of the script. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on 30th March 2023.

Kabzaa – Kannada – 17th March

The underworld crime thriller has been a favorite genre in Indian cinema. While most movies tell the contemporary tales of the underworld at its peak in the late 1900s, Kabzaa takes a subtle yet different route. It tells the story of Arakeshwara and how the situation forces him to join the underworld in British colonial India. How he becomes the don of the underworld and how Bhargav Bakshi is out to eliminate him, is what make up the basic premise of the movie.

Kabzaa stars Upendra and Sudeepa in lead roles. The movie has been simultaneously directed, written, and produced by R. Chandru with music by KGF-famous composer Ravi Basrur. The movie will hit the cinemas on 17th March 2023.
