DHAKA, May 26, 2017 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) has to increase support to businessmen for extending their external trade competency.
"Country's foreign trade will be increased further in the coming days. So, the businessmen who are involved with foreign trade have to be prepared attaining competency to deal the scenario," he added.
The minister was addressing the annual general meeting of the BFTI at ministry's conference room, said a release.
He said the BFTI has been carrying out research on difficulties and potentialities on export trade along with extending cooperation in implementing different development projects of UNCTAD, ITC and UNESCAP. "The BFTI has to ensure highest services for the businessmen."
BFTI Chief Executive Officer Ali Ahmed presented audit reports of last three years which was approved after the discussion.
He informed the meeting that the BFTI has now turned into a profitable organisation and it will expand activities in future as businessmen's interest in the organisation has been increased.
Commerce Secretary (In-charge) Shubhashish Bosu, Tariff Commission Chairman Mushfeka Ikfat, EPB Vice-Chairman (In-charge) Avijit Chowdhury, Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy Principal (In-charge) Syed Masud Mahmud Khandker and BCI President Mustafa Azad Chowdhury were present.
