DHAKA, Jan 24, 2107 (BSS) - Awami League Advisory Council Member Tofail Ahmed today said they, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, are committed to crafting Bangladesh as envisioned by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"Bangabandhu cherished a dream to see an independent Bangladesh . . . And he did politics with a target to ensure people's economic emancipation," he said while speaking at a reunion of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the occasion of its 69th founding anniversary at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest at the reunion of BCL leaders and workers.
Speaking on the occasion, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader said, "Sheikh Hasina is not only a statesman; she is more than a politician."
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, "Sheikh Hasina is more than a political leader as she is not thinking of the next polls, she is thinking for the next generation."
President of BCL Saifur Rahman Sohag urged all party leaders and workers to remain alert so that no image and development activities of the present government are tarnished due their activities.
BCL General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain and Office Secretary Delwar Hossain Shahajada, among others, also spoke.
