Chapainawabganj:A two-and-a-half-year-old boy named Abdur Rahman drowned in a canal at Alatuli union of Sadar upazila this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abdur Rahman was visiting his maternal grandparents in the area for the last two days. The tragic incident occurred around 9 am at Raninghar Bilkandi village when he accidentally fell into the canal near their house.
Family members quickly rescued the child from the water and rushed him to the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital. Unfortunately, the attending doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
Officer-in-Charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, Ekramul Hossain, confirmed the incident.
