Tk 31,039 Crore Proposed for Home Ministry for 2025-2026

Dhaka: The government has proposed Taka 31,039 crore for the Home Ministry to ensure the safety and security of the people and maintain law and order in the country for the financial year of 2025-2026. The proposal was made by Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, the finance adviser to the interim government, during his budget speech.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the proposed budget allocates Taka 27,001 crore for the Public Security Division and Taka 4,038 crore for the Security Service Division of the Home Ministry. Within the Public Security Division’s allocation, Taka 25,777 crore is designated for operating costs, while Taka 1,224 crore is earmarked for development projects.



The revised budget for the Public Security Division in the 2024-2025 financial year was Taka 25,634 crore. Of this amount, Taka 23,997 crore was allocated for operating costs, and Taka 1,637 crore was set aside for development purposes.



For the Security Service Division, the new proposal allocates Taka 2,702 crore for operating costs and Taka 1,336 crore for development projects. In comparison, the revised budget for the Security Service Division during the 2024-2025 financial year was Taka 3,697 crore, with Taka 2,480 crore for operating costs and Taka 1,217 crore for development.
