Tk 18.45 lakh fined for selling jatka at Jatrabari

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined seven fish wholesalers Taka 18.45 lakh on charges of conserving and selling jatka fish in city's Jatrabari fisheries market.

The mobile court of the elite anti-crime force conducted the mobile court against seven fish selling shops at Jatrabari in the early hours of today and seized 2,617 kilogram of jatka fish from there.

Assistant Director (media) of RAB-10 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Enayet Karim said that an Executive Magistrate Md Mazharul Islam of the RAB-10 conducted the operation today's morning in presence of the Assistant Project Officer of the District Fisheries Department.

He said the magistrate fined Tk 8.10 lakh from Russell Fishery, Tk 2.05 lakh from Maidul Enterprise, Tk 2.05 lakh from Rahman, Tk 2.05 lakh from Allah Bharsa, Tk 4.10 lakh from Shiv Shankari.

Apart from this, the mobile court also fined Tahmina Matsya and Jagannath Matsya.

Enayet Karim said the seized jatkas were later distributed to nearby madrasas and orphanages.
