Dhaka: Education Adviser Professor Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar today emphasized the necessity for not only discussions but also effective steps with a specific timeframe to reform the education sector. Dr CR Abrar noted that relying solely on the Education Commission to address all issues within the education sector might be misguided due to inherent limitations in both time and resources. He urged collaboration from all stakeholders to advance the sector.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abrar made these comments during a discussion held at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). The event, titled ‘Budget 2025-26: Education and Employment,’ was inaugurated by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan. Dr Khan highlighted the significant impact of the national budget on various aspects of life, noting positive initiatives in the education sector in the current year’s budget, including changes in science, technical education, and employment sectors. He expressed optimism that the dialogue would contribute effectively to national policy formulation.

The discussion featured several distinguished speakers, including Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Taiyebur Rahman, and Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) Dr AK Enamul Haque. DU Treasurer and Chairman of the Centre on Budget and Policy Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury chaired the event, while Professor Dr M Abu Yusuf, Director of the Centre on Budget and Policy, presented the keynote paper.
